BUKA JALAN PENTJAK SILAT
Buka Jalan Pentjak Silat is the culmination of Cass Magda's many years of training in the Indonesian fighting arts. The core of the arts are generally referred to as Pentjak Silat. Djurus, Lahkas, Kembangan and Sambuts are all important factors in the individuals progression of learning Pentjak Silat. Djurus teach us the correct upper body motions including various strikes with fists, elbows, forearms, palms, fingers; also parrying, deflecting & proper body alignment in conjunction to your opponent. Lahkas makes use of the various lower body positions including footwork patterns & positions and leg strengthening exercises. After these two training methods have been practiced repeatedly over a lengthy period of time then the individual can progress into combining the Djurus & Lahkas together. This may take shape in the form of a parry from a punch to the face taken from the motion of the Djuru, combined with a kick, sweep or an evasive motion learnt in the Lahkas. Thus the end result is a swift response to the attack. Dave Carnell is one of the highest ranking authorities in the world under Cass Magda and the MI Association. Simon McGovern is a Full-Instructor in Buka Jalan Pentjak Silat under Dave Carnell and Cass Magda.
